Kid’s Dental Checkups & Cleanings
When you bring your child in for their checkup, they’ll receive the same detailed level of care that you would yourself. We’ll closely examine their oral structures and look for signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, or anything else concerning. We’ll answer any questions that either of you have, and ensure that moving forward, your child’s smile is set up for a bright future. After we’ve inspected their smile and determined if any other treatments are necessary, we’ll wrap up by thoroughly cleaning your child’s teeth and gums. This also includes a fluoride treatment to help strengthen their enamel.
Dental Sealants
Children are actually at a much higher risk for cavities than adults. This is mostly because they’re still learning how to properly brush and floss, meaning their teeth are extra vulnerable to bacteria. The teeth most at risk are the molars since they’re at the back of the mouth and contain numerous pits and crevices on their surfaces. Dental sealants can be used to protect these teeth; by covering their exposed surfaces, the risk of decay is significantly reduced.
Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver diamine fluoride, often abbreviated as SDF, is a special mixture that can be used to help prevent cavities from growing, particularly in children. It can also sometimes be used to treat tooth sensitivity in patients of all ages. It combines fluoride’s ability to remineralize teeth with silver’s antibacterial properties, and it’s often seen as a more comfortable and easier-to-apply alternative to traditional cavity treatment methods.
Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards
For children who frequently participate in sports or physical activities, we highly recommend an athletic mouthguard. All it takes is one foul ball or accidental hand to the face for a tooth to sustain an injury, but these appliances can greatly reduce the chances of serious damage occurring. Not to mention, the mouthguards we provide are much more comfortable than anything you can pick up yourself, all while providing an immense amount of protection!
